Position Overview:
As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Physician is accountable for delivering comprehensive medical care to patients and their families, emphasizing health preservation, illness prevention, and patient education.

Patient Engagement:
  • Greets patients and their families warmly.
  • Facilitates communication among medical personnel, administrative staff, and patients/families.
  • Collaborates effectively with all healthcare team members.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to established standards of care for both acute and chronic conditions.
  • Complies with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes health promotion strategies and evaluates patient learning outcomes.
  • Collects and assesses physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional data from patients.
  • Accurately identifies patient issues in person or via phone, providing suitable advice, intervention, or referrals.
  • Reassesses and modifies care plans based on patient progress, specialized examinations, or laboratory/radiologic findings.
  • Documents all patient interactions meticulously in their medical records.
  • Makes informed decisions within the defined scope of practice.
  • Educates patients and families using relevant health education resources.
  • Operates within the approved scope of practice and standardized procedures set by licensing or certifying bodies.
  • Engages in quality improvement initiatives, policy reviews, and ongoing medical education.
  • Adheres to established policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards of Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
  • When applicable, supervises Physician Assistants or collaborates with Nurse Practitioners according to state regulations.

Environmental Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to maintaining a clean and organized workspace and department.
  • Ensures all clinical equipment is well-maintained, reporting any damage or maintenance needs promptly.

Essential Skills:
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal and ethical standards in medical care delivery.
  • Familiarity with relevant medications and non-pharmaceutical patient care tools.
  • Knowledge of current practices for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in the specialty area.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, families, medical staff, administration, and colleagues.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including dependability, self-confidence, compassion, professionalism, and adaptability.
  • Ability to mentor and train clinical professionals, staff, and students in the specialty area.
  • Commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Proficient in time management.
  • Competent in word processing and computer skills.

Experience Requirements:
3 to 5 years of relevant experience, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
