Position Overview

This role represents a 0.10 FTE Clinical Associate position as an adjunct instructor within the Physician Assistant Division of the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. The Clinical Associate (CA) will engage with a small cohort of students (4) and will report directly to the CA Director and Program Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide and instruct students in mastering the Integrated Physical Examination, with a focus on HEENT/Neuro, Cardiopulmonary, Gastrointestinal, and Musculoskeletal systems.
  • Assess student performance through standardized patient interactions following the completion of each physical examination module.
  • Provide instruction on the creation of medical records, particularly in the context of SOAP note documentation related to these Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
  • Facilitate the enhancement of clinical problem-solving skills through the analysis of 16 clinical cases and 1 ethics case.
  • Deliver instruction and support in SOAP note documentation and oral case presentations throughout the semester.
  • Act as a preceptor during the Clinical Practicum component of the semester.
  • Offer both oral and written feedback regarding OSCE performance and SOAP note documentation.
  • Participate in faculty development initiatives and preseason meetings biannually.
  • Evaluate and grade student performance at the conclusion of each semester.
