Category Strategist

As a Category Strategist at Factory Motor Parts, you will play a critical role in determining the right product assortment for each category in our area of responsibility. You will analyze data to recommend product assortment in conjunction with our overall corporate strategy. Your comprehensive product assortments will cater to regional and customer differences in demand.

• Recognize and appreciate regional, sales channel, and brand differences in demand and perform analysis to present recommendations accordingly.
• Request and expedite assortment data from vendors and combine it with business intelligence systems to create assortment recommendations.
• Perform extensive analysis and provide assortment recommendations.
• Identify and quantify best options among multiple vendor offerings.
• Document all assortment criteria and update the team with weekly progress reports.

• Knowledge of the automotive industry and products sold is preferred.
• Set up research methods and sources to maintain awareness of assortments and category trends.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail to analyze large databases.
• Ability to make decisions within company guidelines and request approval on unique situations.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work situations and priorities.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, emphasis on Access, Excel, and Sequel.
• Perform and manage multiple tasks with stringent deadlines.
• Ability to perform and demonstrate Financial Management.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems.
• Can relate to and work with all departments and levels of staff within the Company.
• Demonstrated ability to develop effective and professional working relationships with all levels of customers.
• Must be a team player.

Work is performed in a company office building. Lifting requirements of up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis may be required. Wrist and finger manipulation due to computer work, calculating, compiling, and filing. Equipment used may include but is not limited to computer, calculator, telephone, copy, and fax machines.
