Key ResponsibilitiesWhile prior experience is advantageous, Mayo Clinic offers on-the-job training for this position. The Specimen Operations Team is in search of a laboratory support specialist.
In this role, you will be part of a diverse and agile team responsible for the receipt, verification, processing, and storage of biological specimens.
Your duties will also encompass various clerical and laboratory tasks, including maintaining inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and ensuring cleanliness.
Collaboration with team members is essential, as you will contribute to an inclusive work environment that respects diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
This position is situated at a facility with convenient parking. In addition to gaining valuable clinical laboratory experience, there are ample opportunities for career progression within Specimen Operations.
QualificationsA high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Additional Qualifications
All applicants must attach a cover letter and resume to their application to be considered for this position.
Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology is preferred, along with a background in science. 1-2 years of medical experience is also preferred.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and adherence to strict safety protocols for handling chemicals and infectious agents are crucial.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary, as well as proficiency with computers and telecommunication.
