Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and create original prints that align with brand objectives and enhance the overall vision.
  • Develop CAD artwork based on personal designs and contributions from fellow designers for various product lines.
  • Oversee the complete design process to ensure prints are on-brand, commercially viable, and trend-focused.
  • Collaborate with an in-house print design team to gain valuable industry experience and training.
  • Focus on innovative and artistic design rather than solely computer-generated outputs, ensuring a high-end aesthetic that resonates with target consumers.

Specific Duties:

  • Generate prints for the core cotton collection using original or sourced artwork.
  • Present original designs and inspiration to management at the beginning of each season, adhering to the product development timeline.
  • Fully develop selected prints, create CAD artwork in Adobe Illustrator, and design complementary lining and border patterns, ensuring compatibility with printing specifications.
  • Produce CAD artwork for textiles and various substrates, including PVC, PU, and leather, adapting existing designs as necessary.
  • Manage copyright releases for personal artwork prior to submission for printing.
  • Stay informed on industry trends by attending relevant textile color and trend exhibitions.
  • Assist in the proofing process of files for accuracy in color, size, and repeat patterns.
  • Maintain the Print Design calendar and support all teams in meeting project deadlines.
  • Prepare specifications for CAD designs and communicate with vendors as needed.
  • Work closely with fabric designers to ensure accurate color matching during in-house printing.
  • Keep detailed records of all CAD designs and manage requests for revisions from external designers.
  • Coordinate with textile designers and vendors to ensure proper formatting of materials.
  • Review strike-offs against original artwork and provide feedback on accuracy.
  • Create flat sketches and illustrations for product line lists and presentations.
  • Participate in evaluating product line concepts alongside the product development team.
  • Oversee the operation of CAD machinery and printers.
  • Ensure the safekeeping and proper registration of original artwork.
  • Support the design team by creating and updating technical sketches as required.
  • Offer creative insights and suggestions for personal projects.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; a Bachelor's degree in textile design, graphic design, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing print designs for textiles.
  • Proven artistic skills in drawing, sketching, and illustrating.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is essential.
  • Experience in the fashion industry is highly desirable.
  • A keen eye for color and design.
  • Strong performance on the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test.
  • Familiarity with the textile printing industry.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative product specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office on PC and/or Mac.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
