Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Food and Consumer Products business unit at SSOE Group. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for food and beverage industry clients. Your expertise in HVAC and mechanical utility systems, as well as your experience in sanitary production environments, will be valuable assets to our team.
Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer, your duties will include:
- Planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard accepted methods for projects related to food and beverage industry clients.
- Performing most assignments with instructions as to general results expected, exercising sound judgment to resolve problems, but may receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and soliciting the approval of the department manager or project engineer for proposed design solutions.
- Performing detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
- Analyzing mechanical, utility and HVAC systems, and providing solutions to efficiency, production and other issues.
- Working with the client and internal resources to develop project scopes, schedules and budgets.
- Developing engineering and capital cost estimates.
- May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicating changes to the team.
- May supervise and coordinate the work of less experienced engineers and designers and be responsible for checking a portion or all of the drawings completed on the project within the discipline.
- May take part in client contact and business development activities.
- Meets with client to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
- Develops engineering concepts and presentations.
- Coordinates work with other disciplines.
- Keeps current on new design methods and ideas.
- Travel required.
- Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
Qualifications
To be successful as a Mechanical Engineer at SSOE Group, you will need to have:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
- PE or PE-tracked preferred, five (5) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s) required.
- Experience with design of HVAC and mechanical utility systems, as well as working in sanitary production environments.
- Prior consulting experience in the food industry, and experience in sanitary design highly desired.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or other CAD programs.
- Strong communications, facilitation, and team leadership skills.

We offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $120,000 a year, depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
