Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for evaluating patients' communication and swallowing disorders, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients' communication and swallowing disorders using standardized assessments and clinical observations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address patients' communication and swallowing needs, including speech, language, and cognitive therapy.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and other therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal outcomes.
  • Document patient progress and treatment plans in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
  • Supervise and mentor speech-language pathology students and interns as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Current licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Michigan.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings, preferably in a hospital or rehabilitation center.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods, with frequent bending and twisting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with videofluoroscopy swallow studies and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in speech-language pathology, including cognitive-communication therapy and swallowing disorders.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare software.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The Speech Language Pathologist will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal outcomes. The work environment is well-lit, comfortable, and well-equipped, with occasional travel for community outings and variable hours according to clinic hours.
