ORGANIZATION: RPS Academic Supports and Interventions

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Mathematics Support Specialist will receive training in evidence-based assessment and programming to implement Tier II & III interventions and provide site-level professional development on these interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a collegiate professional license or postgraduate professional license with an endorsement in Mathematics, along with a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience. Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are advantageous.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
  • Facilitates small group instruction.
  • Conducts monthly professional development sessions for school-based staff focused on interventions.
  • Collaborates with the School Based Intervention Team (SBIT) to assess and identify students requiring Tier III interventions.
  • Implements Tier III academic interventions utilizing research-based methodologies in mathematics.
  • Communicates with school personnel and families regarding students' mathematical levels and progress.
  • Documents interventions and progress for each child receiving Tier III support.
  • Works alongside the school leadership team to monitor and guide the progress of each student.
  • Participates in team reviews concerning the academic progress of students needing additional services.
  • Provides monthly progress monitoring data to educators and administrators.
  • Creates an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of each student to foster success. Supervises students in various school-related settings.
  • Engages with students, parents, staff, and the community, developing and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet diverse student needs.
  • Maintains accurate records and adheres to required procedures and practices. Monitors the appropriate use and care of educational materials and facilities.
  • Administers both informal and formal assessments.
  • Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives. Manages classroom organization effectively.
  • Collaborates with administration and staff to schedule necessary meetings.
  • Attends all required professional development sessions.
  • Assists in designing, upholding, and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board policies.
  • Actively participates in faculty and/or department meetings.
  • Assists in preparing data for local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK: Duties are typically performed in a school environment. This role involves providing teaching and training services to students. The work requires frequent standing, sitting, light lifting (up to 10 pounds), walking, vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level, and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
