Salary: The compensation for this role ranges from $19.40 to $24.24 per hour, determined by skills, experience, and internal equity.

Position Summary: The Patron Services Assistant, under the guidance of the patron services supervisor, plays a vital role in delivering outstanding customer service to library visitors. This position involves staffing two public service desks and managing the Call Center.

Work Schedule: Part-time, totaling 16 hours per week, with the following shifts:

  • Mondays: 9am - 1pm
  • Thursdays: 5pm - 9pm
  • Fridays: 5pm - 9pm
  • Saturdays: 9am - 1pm

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one year in a customer service role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patrons warmly
  • Respond to basic inquiries in person and over the phone
  • Assist patrons in obtaining new library cards
  • Facilitate the checkout process for materials
  • Guide patrons in utilizing automated services
  • Manage renewals and basic circulation questions
  • Address patron concerns
  • Engage patrons in discussions about books, films, and other library resources
  • Proactively assist patrons throughout the library
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

Additional Duties:

  • Participation in library committees may be required
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned
