Position Summary:
This role entails the secure and punctual transportation of materials to various customer sites, including stores and quarries in the local area. Drivers will be responsible for operating and maintaining their assigned vehicles, collaborating closely with dispatchers to plan routes and monitor deliveries. A valid Class A CDL license is mandatory for this position. Candidates must possess a clean driving record and successfully complete a DOT mandated drug and alcohol screening, as well as a physical examination.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:
  • Comply with the company's dress code and attendance policies at all times.
Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires, and report any mechanical issues immediately.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean and that all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in optimal condition.
  • Accurately complete and submit all daily truck logs, including electronic documentation.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of trucks, utilizing necessary equipment and verifying contents against shipping invoices.
  • Secure cargo for transport using appropriate methods.
Delivery and Customer Interaction:
  • Gather delivery instructions from relevant sources, confirming routes and instructions.
  • Read route sheets and service each customer as assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Adjust routes as necessary based on real-time conditions, utilizing GPS and other navigation tools to optimize fuel efficiency.
  • Document deliveries by taking photos and obtaining necessary receipts or signatures.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and undamaged deliveries.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Act as a representative of the brand in every customer interaction.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors or dispatchers for delivery or pickup instructions.
Safety Protocols:
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures consistently.
  • Follow traffic laws diligently, including speed limits and stop sign regulations.
  • Report any defects, accidents, or traffic violations promptly.
  • Safely operate trucks with a gross weight capacity of up to 80,000 lbs.
  • Utilize communication equipment to relay necessary information to dispatchers and other drivers.
  • Inspect trailers post-delivery to ensure no damage has occurred.
  • Follow accident protocols as directed by the safety team.
  • Comply with all DOT and company regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Must possess a valid CDL Class A license.
  • Maintain an active commercial driver license.
  • Demonstrated safe driving record with no serious violations in the past five years and no DWI/DUI in the last ten years.
  • Minimum of one year of commercial driving experience required.
  • Consistent employment history.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and DOT drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Able to pass the DOT physical examination.
  • Experience with transporting bulk materials is a plus.
  • Preferred candidates will have strong communication skills and basic mechanical knowledge.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

The physical demands of this position include:
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat and cold, as well as potential exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
  • Moderate noise levels typical of a construction or transportation environment.
  • Work involves some physical risks; adherence to safety precautions is essential.
  • Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed, totaling 40-55 hours per week.
  • Ability to sit, climb, bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
  • This position does not involve over-the-road travel.
