Position Summary:
The Laboratory Sample Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the Accessioning department's operations while ensuring high standards of customer service and satisfaction. This position encompasses a variety of essential tasks that contribute to the seamless functioning of laboratory processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately input patient demographic and testing information into the laboratory information system.
  • Process and accession laboratory specimens for both in-house and reference laboratory testing.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Prepare and set up samples for testing, ensuring timely delivery to the appropriate department and placement on the necessary instruments.
  • Complete mandatory annual training requirements.
  • Adhere to established procedures and maintain work schedules without compromising the quality of work or patient care.
  • Adapt to changes in work schedules as needed; utilize time efficiently to benefit departmental operations; perform effectively in urgent situations and assist other departments when required.
  • Manage multiple tasks concurrently while maintaining focus.
  • Uphold a clean and safe working environment, utilizing the appropriate personal protective equipment and promoting workplace safety.
  • Ensure specimen integrity, identify errors, and follow established protocols for resolution, including proper documentation.
  • Guarantee the thorough completion of all assigned tasks.
  • Support laboratory objectives, policies, procedures, and overall philosophy.
  • Prepare samples and accompanying documentation for dispatch to the relevant reference laboratory or AHA location.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute with minimal errors.
  • Experience in data entry.
  • Prior experience in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with colleagues, clients, patients, and visitors.
