Position Summary:
The Project Superintendent oversees and directs the activities of construction personnel to ensure compliance with contract specifications and quality standards. This role involves effective organization of work through subordinate supervisors and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the scheduling of crews, equipment, and subcontractors for optimal productivity.
- Establish and secure the field office, ensuring project safety at all times.
- Identify potential challenges in plans and specifications, alerting the Project Manager as necessary.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of financial implications related to project decisions.
- Facilitate project start-up and ensure accurate project layout.
- Assist in developing project schedules and proactively identify solutions to issues.
- Participate in weekly team meetings to align on project progress.
- Verify mock-ups for compliance with specifications prior to material installation.
- Ensure all work adheres to plans and quality control standards.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to maintain an updated 3-week look-ahead schedule.
- Conduct weekly meetings with subcontractors and foremen.
- Oversee the Subcontractor Badging Program.
- Lead safety meetings, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
- Document pre-installation conferences and maintain a rolling punch list.
- Ensure all job site documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Maintain as-built drawings and manage project closeout processes.
- Foster strong relationships with subcontractors, architects, and owners.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of various project types and delivery methods.
- Experience managing projects with a construction value exceeding $2 million.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and understanding construction schedules.
- Ability to motivate subcontractors and coordinate construction teams effectively.
- Familiarity with software programs such as MS Office Suite and job site management tools.
