Toolmaker and Die Setter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Tool & Die Maker / Four Slide to join our team at Connecticut Spring & Stamping. As a key member of our production department, you will be responsible for maintaining and implementing systems and programs related to tooling and machine maintenance to support production schedules, continuous improvements to quality, cost, and lead-time of goods and services provided to our customers.

• Set-up and maintenance of tooling, including first-piece quality submission.
• Documenting tool history and set-up information, adhering to process standards.
• Alerting supervisors to machine and tool maintenance needs.
• Fabricating tools, components, fixtures, and gauges as directed by area supervisors or technical leads.
• Collaborating with the New Tool Group on introducing new tools into production areas.
• Assisting in standardizing tooling component inventory and developing project/tool estimates.
• Supporting department set-up associates in solving problems and issues with tool set-up and production.
• Assisting company managers on metal stamping and four-slide projects.
• Updating and correcting job travelers for operation changes and additions.
• Training apprentices in tooling and manufacturing procedures.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in component/tooling fabrication, trouble-shooting tooling, and repairing tooling.
• CT-approved journeyperson or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and GDT as needed for production manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of statistical process control in production environments.
• Experience with production standards, cost of quality, and manufacturing methods.
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic and production-oriented mindset.

• Visual ability to read directions and prints and inspect parts closely.
• Manual dexterity to operate machinery for precision work.
• Physical ability to perform work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
• Ability to lift up to 35lbs unassisted.
