Creative Financial Staffing is a leading supplier of materials, and we are looking for a highly skilled Tax Accountant to join our team. Our company is rapidly growing, and we need a candidate with a strong tax background to help us navigate the complexities of tax compliance.

Job Summary

The Tax Accountant will be responsible for guiding the tax compliance efforts for all jurisdictions in which our company operates. This individual will function as a project manager to ensure accurate data distribution, file maintenance, and on-time tax filings are completed with third-party firms. The Tax Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with tax law and regulations and communicating any changes with internal stakeholders, as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage tax compliance for all assigned organizations
  • Ensure on-time tax filings as required by all jurisdictions in which the company operates, including sales & use tax, VAT, property taxes, and business licenses.
  • Confirm on-time submissions of monthly and quarterly payments as required by all jurisdictions in which the company operates.
  • Perform a review for completeness and accuracy of advisory recommendations of all payments, accrual postings, and filings.
  • Coordinate and post monthly tax accruals and reconcile assigned tax accounts as part of the close process.
  • Act as Project Manager to coordinate all required information with government auditors and third-party firms as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain a professional, positive relationship with government tax auditors, tax advisory firms, and Team Members to provide data and audit information.
  • Prepare all data inputs and provide to external tax advisors and government auditors and provide notice/communicate data with all internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Communicate confirmation of payments and filings to government agencies with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide copies of all correspondence and documents with government agencies in a shared file with Manager, Tax.
  • Stay up to date on all tax regulations, requirements, and legal changes to ensure compliance for all assigned organizations.
  • Conduct an overview of methodology, completeness, and accuracy with supervisor prior to submission of tax filings.
  • Remain consistent with legal requirements, auditing filings and data reports on a regular basis throughout the fiscal year.
  • Complete periodic evaluations and adjustments to ensure consistency with federal, state, and local tax obligations.
  • Utilize external resources to stay abreast of upcoming tax compliance changes and communicate any changes to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Support the Tax, Finance, and Accounting functions, maintaining close contact with the Manager, Tax working on special tax reporting and projects as needed.
  • Provide agreed upon status updates of all ongoing activities, including state and federal audit activity including key issues raised by government auditors, estimation of potential exposure, information requests, status of submissions/responses to inquiries, and upcoming deadlines.
  • Maintain and communicate a calendar of all key tax deadlines, upcoming assessments, and payments.
  • Support requests for special tax/accounting reporting, as necessary.
  • Aids in special projects for the finance team as needed.

Experience

Minimum of three to five years of related sales and use, VAT, and/or property tax experience. Proven project management experience preferred. Strong spreadsheet skills are a requirement. SAP and Vertex experience is a plus.
