As a pivotal member of the Cyber Threat Hunting, Intelligence & Defense team at Bank of America, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the organization's cybersecurity framework. This team is dedicated to fortifying the bank's defenses through comprehensive research, threat simulations, proactive threat hunting, and offensive security initiatives.


In collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank, your efforts will be directed towards identifying and mitigating threats, thereby safeguarding critical infrastructure that serves millions of customers globally.


Key Responsibilities:


The Lead Cyber Threat Analyst will be tasked with:

  • Analyzing and correlating extensive datasets to identify emerging threats and sophisticated attack methodologies within the bank's systems.
  • Collaborating with data science, threat research, and cyber defense teams to enhance detection capabilities against advanced threat actors employing innovative tactics.
  • Formulating and documenting new threat hunting hypotheses to improve the team's effectiveness in uncovering hidden threats.
  • Mentoring junior team members and sharing expertise to foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Engaging with Cyber Defense operational and technical teams to gather insights into critical security controls, thereby developing effective hunt strategies and analytics.
  • Providing guidance on product assessments, policy modifications, and architectural changes that influence the organization on a global scale.

Essential Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive experience in threat hunting within a corporate environment.
  • A minimum of 8 years in technical roles related to Security Operations, Incident Response, Detection Engineering, Offensive Security/Red Team, or Cyber Threat Intelligence.
  • Proficiency in analyzing system, network, and application logs for attack techniques across the cyber kill chain.
  • Experience with large datasets and log analysis tools such as Splunk, Python, SQL, and Hadoop.
  • Ability to interpret Cyber Threat Intelligence for actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate threat hunting objectives and associated risks clearly.
  • Experience with enterprise-scale EDR and SIEM tools.
  • Demonstrated self-direction and the ability to work independently towards achieving objectives.

Preferred Skills:


While not mandatory, the following skills are advantageous:

  • Familiarity with Data Science concepts.
  • Experience with offensive security tools and methodologies.
