Chenega Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate to join our team. As a Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate, you will play a critical role in providing support and advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 24/7 response to victims alleging domestic abuse by publishing and maintaining an emergency contact number.
- Establish a Victim's Safety Plan on a case-by-case basis, prioritizing the victim's safety and well-being.
- Partner with the Family Advocacy Treatment Manager and Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist to establish safety plans and provide support to victims.
- Review and update safety plans during each victim contact, ensuring the victim's safety and well-being are prioritized.
- Develop safety plans based on initial and ongoing risk assessments, including assessing the victim's risk factors and providing support to mitigate those risks.
- Immediately report any changes in the victim's circumstances that impact the safety plan to the FAP treatment/case manager or mental health on-call provider.
- Collaborate with the FAP treatment/case manager to support the victim and promote safety for the victim and children in the home.
- Establish a contact file for each victim served, containing minimal information about the allegations or nature of the incident.
- Place the safety plan, Victim Impact Statement, and Victim Preference Statement in the DAVA contact file and provide a copy to the treatment/case manager for the FAP Record.
- Submit Victim Impact Statements when requested by the victim, informing the alleged offender's commander, the FAP treatment/case manager, or the FAO of the impact the maltreatment has had on the victim and/or children.
- Enter victim contact information and perform other activities monthly, as guided by DAF FAP.
- Develop a process to keep the FAO and designated POC informed of DAVA's location and timelines when providing DAVA victim services.
- Support the Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist in promoting education about and prevention of domestic abuse, including outreach programs, educational briefings, skill-building classes, and marketing tools and strategies.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related field, such as Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, Counseling or Behavioral Science, or Criminal Justice.
- Minimum two years of experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault.
- Ability to clearly read, understand, speak, and write English.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Advocate credential with designation of Comprehensive Intervention Specialist, as approved by the National Advocate Credentialing Program.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
