Role Summary:

As a Test Engineer focusing on the Ship's Self Defense System (SSDS), you will be instrumental in supporting the SSDS MK2 combat system and its associated interfaces on United States Navy platforms. Your responsibilities will encompass the development of stringent testing standards for the evaluation of shipboard, land-based, and enterprise Integrated Combat System (ICS) products, software, and equipment, ensuring compliance with company and contractual specifications. You will conduct thorough reviews, testing, validation, and verification of System Requirements Specifications (SRS) and System Subsystem Specifications (SSS), analyze test outcomes, and implement necessary corrective measures. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Creating, maintaining, and executing test protocols for Land Based Engineering Tests (LBET), Combat System Integration Tests (CSIT), Shipboard Developmental Tests (SBDT), and Enterprise Test events.
  • Evaluating new software releases during the development phase.
  • Providing technical insights on specific products, operating systems, and specialized environments.
  • Establishing and maintaining documentation for test processes and requirements.
  • Documenting test results and logging issues in the Trouble Observation Report (TOR) database.
  • Configuring necessary hardware and operating environments to facilitate testing.
  • Collaborating with product management and technical writers to ensure alignment between system and user manuals and the software.
  • Interfacing with customers, vendors, and various departments to address issues causing test failures.
  • Guiding junior engineers in developing test procedures and conducting tests.
  • Generating reports and reviewing documentation produced by junior engineers.
  • Reviewing supplier information regarding materials and components.
  • Independently managing small projects or assisting senior engineers as needed.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications:

  • An active Secret clearance is mandatory for consideration.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
  • A minimum of four years of experience with US Navy Combat Systems and Interoperability (AEGIS, SSDS, ACDS, TADILs, CEC, Air Control, etc.).
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Security Clearance:

Candidates must possess an active security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance. Selected individuals will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for a DoD security clearance, including a background check covering criminal history, employment, education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
