About the Department

The Criminology Department at DePaul University is a leading program in the field, with a strong focus on critical thinking, analytical skills, and social justice. The department offers a comprehensive curriculum, including three concentration areas: Community Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, and Race, Class, Gender and the Criminal Legal System.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in criminology, including Introduction to the Criminal Legal System, Criminological Theories, and elective courses on gangs, criminology, and more.
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students.
  • Advise students on academic and career goals.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated effective teaching experience in criminology or criminal justice.
  • Ability to teach at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and faculty.
Preferred Qualifications
  • JD candidates with extensive experience teaching in criminology or criminal justice.
  • MA or MS in criminology, criminal justice, or a related field.
