Job Summary:

The Monitor Tech is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. This role is responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors, facilitating communication needs, transcribing physician orders, verifying lab tests and radiology tests, and preparing patient records.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors
  • Facilitate communication needs of the department
  • Transcribe physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system
  • Verify lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done
  • Prepare and complete patient records
  • Order supplies for the unit
  • Assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate
  • Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician preferred
