Job Description

This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the optimal performance of equipment in our fulfillment centers. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for providing proactive controls automation and technical support to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance. Your primary goal will be to drive continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoot complex control systems, and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems, implement innovative projects, and develop system design improvements to enhance site throughput. You will work closely with state-of-the-art technology, including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA devices and programs. By applying your technical leadership and design optimization skills, you will directly contribute to ensuring our customers receive their orders with Amazon's signature speed and accuracy while building team capabilities and driving operational excellence.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong technical knowledge in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent fields. Your experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment is essential. Additionally, you should have a solid understanding of robotics work cells and control systems, Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs, electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment. Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or automation engineering are highly desirable. Furthermore, you should possess exceptional written, verbal, and customer service skills, with a proven track record in remote technical support.
