Bates College is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Campus Life team as an Event Security Specialist. This is an on-call position that requires flexibility and a willingness to work non-traditional schedules, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional security support for Campus Life events, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all attendees.
- Collaborate with Campus Safety and other security personnel to establish a secure perimeter and implement crowd management measures.
- Conduct security checks at event entrances, including ID verification and bag checks.
- Respond to and address potentially problematic behavior and safety concerns, including incidents related to alcohol, smoking, or drug use.
- Assist with event setup and teardown, including clearing the venue at the end of the event.
- Participate in training and staff meetings to stay up-to-date on campus policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 21 years old.
- Experience working with young adults and familiarity with G Suite applications.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion, and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.
- Flexibility, collaboration, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage conflict.
