Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Technician to join our team at a precision, light-gauge sheet metal fabricator. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality control and assurance, with experience in interpreting blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
  • Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems.
  • Recommend methods of assembly, welding, and production.
  • Perform inspection on first piece, in process, purchased part, and finished material and products, ensuring conformance to specifications.
  • Isolate and disposition non-conforming product.
  • Utilize various measurement tools, including Virtek Scanner, ROMER Articulating Arm CMM, Protractors, Height Gages, Calipers, and Micrometers.
  • Test finished products for paint quality, weld quality, dimensions, fit, and appearance.
  • Route product for re-work.
  • Complete all required records and paperwork, including inspection reports, damage reports, return reports, and re-work orders.
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.
  • Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Creation and submission of PPAP documentation.
  • Make recommendations regarding safe working methods.
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements:

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • 3 years of related manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications, and safety regulations
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variety of variables
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment, including micrometers, calipers, protractors, etc.
