Key ResponsibilitiesThe Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is looking for a radiation oncologist to enhance our expanding team, support our current practice, and prepare for the nation’s first Carbon-Ion Therapy Center.
The Radiation Oncologist will be expected to employ various radiation modalities, including IMRT, brachytherapy, and SBRT, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to manage patients with diverse malignancies.
Exceptional clinical skills and a strong interest in clinical research are essential. Experience in proton therapy is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates with a background in clinical trial research are preferred.
Proudly affiliated with the top hospital in Florida, the Department of Radiation Oncology in Jacksonville stands as a premier center for excellence in patient care, innovation, and education.
Our department is equipped with advanced technology, including Varian TrueBeam linacs, a Gamma Knife ICON, Mobetron, and a GE CT simulator with wide bore and 4D capabilities, along with an Elekta Flexitron HDR remote afterloader, Eclipse, and ARIA.
Treatment procedures encompass all conventional radiation therapies, as well as specialized modalities such as IORT, TBI, TSET, HDR, SRS, SBRT, BH, and LDR eye plaques.
Furthermore, we are set to commence construction of an integrated oncology facility that will feature the first Carbon Therapy system in North America, a dual-gantry proton facility, MR and CT simulators, and conventional linacs.
The Department currently comprises 12 physician faculty, 4 radiation oncology residents, 12 physicists, and 4 advanced practice providers, with plans for significant growth in the coming years to support the particle therapy center.
Our team is seasoned and cohesive, actively engaged in subspecialty clinical practice, education, and research in radiation oncology.
Mayo Clinic Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center, the only one with three geographic sites, and receives over $100 million in competitive peer-reviewed grants annually, including the highly sought-after NCI Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) grants.
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible and eligible for licensure in the state of Florida.
