Thompson Engineering is seeking a skilled Construction Materials Technician to oversee the testing and inspection of construction materials. This role is essential in ensuring that all construction activities meet the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a 40 lb. nuclear gauge for testing construction materials.
- Collect concrete samples from ready mix trucks.
- Prepare concrete test cylinders for analysis.
- Conduct tests on concrete samples and coordinate delivery to the laboratory.
- Monitor and document construction crew performance related to material handling.
- Perform visual inspections of rebar installations.
- Gather and transport soil samples from the job site to the laboratory.
- Engage with clients and contractors professionally and ethically.
- Maintain company equipment in optimal condition for project use.
- Implement quality standards for all work assignments.
- Keep a detailed daily log of field activities for each project.
- Submit daily reports and necessary documentation to the Organizational Manager as per project specifications.
- Execute all tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Report any corrective actions to the Organizational Manager to uphold quality standards.
- Review project documents and testing procedures to ensure comprehension of technical requirements.
- Prepare reports and conduct field activities promptly.
- Participate in safety meetings and training programs to enhance technical skills.
- Ensure consistent and punctual attendance.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in a CMT Level II Technician role.
- Level III Certifications for relevant assignments.
- Valid driver's license.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to stoop and bend for equipment maintenance.
- Willingness to wear appropriate PPE for hazardous materials.
- Wear steel-toed shoes as necessary.
- Adaptability to work in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
