Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking a highly experienced senior structural engineer to join our dynamic team in the Great Plains region. The successful candidate will engage in a diverse array of transportation design initiatives across the Midwest, focusing on both roadway and rail infrastructure. This position will also involve managing ongoing transportation projects and taking the lead on future endeavors.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Engaging in the design of bridges and structural projects, ranging from minor drainage solutions to extensive multi-span bridges. Proficiency in the design of concrete and steel girder bridges is essential, while experience with rail structures is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Acting as the senior project engineer and primary client liaison. This includes participating in project interviews, attending client meetings, and delivering public presentations.
- Providing support for construction projects by reviewing submissions, addressing requests for information (RFIs), and conducting site visits to ensure adherence to contract specifications and drawings.
- Overseeing accurate client billing and managing accounts receivable and collection efforts for assigned projects. Responsibilities also include preparing budgets, estimates, scopes, marketing strategies, and forecasting anticipated workloads for internal teams.
- Leading the structural design initiatives for complex transportation projects, which encompass proposals, reports, specifications, plans, and designs.
- Ensuring compliance with project team quality system tasks as outlined in the quality manual.
- Utilizing engineering software to review and create engineering and design documentation as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil or transportation engineering from an accredited institution, with a focus on bridge and structural design.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of ten to fifteen years of experience as a bridge or structural design engineer, encompassing bridge, retaining wall, foundation, and culvert design.
- Advanced proficiency in structural analysis and design software.
- Familiarity with AASHTO standards and procedures. Experience designing bridges in the Midwest is a plus.
Certifications:
Professional Engineer License in Nebraska, Iowa, or South Dakota is required.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this role ranges from $135,000 to $160,000 annually, with the final offer being contingent upon various factors, including skills, qualifications, and experience.
