The Department of Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a highly skilled general surgeon to join our team as a part-time instructor. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated physician to contribute to the advancement of science through research and education while providing high-quality patient care.

As a member of our Division of Acute Care Surgical Services, you will be responsible for trauma call coverage on the MCV campus, approximately 2 calls per month. You will work closely with residents, fellows, and medical students to provide excellent educational experiences and foster a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.

We are seeking a board-certified or eligible general surgeon with a strong commitment to resident and fellow education. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for trauma patients on the MCV campus
  • Trauma call coverage (approximately 2 calls per month)
  • Incorporate residents, fellows, and medical students into their practice while on call

Requirements:

  • Board certification or eligibility in general surgery
  • Commitment to resident and fellow education
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Compensation: Call-based salary range: $250,000 - $300,000 annually.
