Job Summary

As a RN House Supervisor, you will assume primary responsibility for overseeing, coordinating, and facilitating comprehensive care delivery in all clinical areas during designated shifts. This role serves as in-house administration after business hours and on weekends/holidays, and assumes delegated nursing administrative responsibilities in the absence of the director and/or Vice President.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
  • Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Allocates and directs staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and department needs, and collaborates with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
  • Responsible for the coordination and support of patient activity and safe practices in all clinical areas on the designated shift.
  • Oversight for placement of all admissions on designated shift. All hospital EMTALA transfers requests are discussed/coordinated through the House Supervisor.
  • Responsible for facilitating unit triaging during times of peak census. When high census or ICU contingency plans are imminent, coordinates decisions with Directors, Medical Director, Vice President, and Administrator on-call as appropriate.
  • Responds to high-risk situations, provides direction, supports, and assists as necessary toward problem resolution in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates daily staffing adjustments to maintain safe and effective care. Works with Department Director as necessary to resolve assignment issues.
  • Serves as a resource to physicians when issues arise. Answers staff questions regarding medical staff privileging when needed.
  • Serves in a patient/family advocacy role when issues are identified.
  • Provides resources as needs/issues arise. I.E. policy and procedure interpretation, provides back-up infection control and guidance for employee health situations.
Qualifications
  • Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required OR must be currently enrolled and complete Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Required Licensure and Certifications: Current RN licensure in the State of North Dakota or compact. Life Support is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association: Basic Life Support. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training: 3 to 5 years of clinical experience required.
