Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Attorney Advisor - Litigation Expert to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a key member of our defense counsel team, you will provide expert guidance and support to our legal advisors and practitioners in the effective provision of criminal defense services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise on litigation, including training and case-specific consultations to defense counsel on complex cases.
  • Support trial defense counsel in all aspects of case preparation, motion drafting, expert witness preparation, and devising trial strategy.
  • Advise and assist the Chief Defense Counsel of the Marine Corps in assessing and resourcing requirements to ensure the effective representation of our clients.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our defense counsel team.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure the provision of high-quality defense services to our clients.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Must be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.
  • Must be of good character and in full compliance with continuing legal education requirements.
Qualifications
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience must demonstrate expertise in litigation, support to trial defense counsel, and advanced trial experience with multi-disciplinary representation.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

The successful applicant must be a U.S. citizen, have graduated from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
