Job Summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing and executing projects related to environmental engineering and consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work in various fields, including wastewater, water, and stormwater conveyance systems.
  • Lead environmental studies, permitting, alternatives analyses, and other technical deliverables.
  • Execute activities on projects for planning and design of stormwater/water/wastewater conveyance systems, as well as engineering services during construction.
  • Perform analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layout, necessary to develop required new installation and rehabilitation design documents.
  • Serve as a key member of teams for the planning, evaluation, and design of existing and proposed water and wastewater pumping stations.
  • Work on engineering designs preparing reports, construction plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various projects.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, documents, drawings, and maps (in ArcMap/GIS or AutoCAD).
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing.
  • Lead and support the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
  • Lead and support studies and alternative analysis.
  • Develop understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements for a variety of jurisdictions.
  • Assist with development of permitting plans and permit applications.
  • Duties may also include field activities such as site investigations.
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams under other disciplines (drafters, designers, and subcontractors).

Requirements

  • S. degree in a related engineering field (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, etc.).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience preferred in municipal water and wastewater engineering and consulting with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Previous proven and successful project management experience on large municipal projects as either the lead or in an assistant project manager role with ability to obtain direct client references.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • ArcMap/GIS skills, highly preferred.
  • AutoCAD skills, preferred.
  • Experience with data management (e.g. SQL).
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and willingness to travel and conduct field work.
  • Ability to successfully manage and deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • The successful candidate's traits will include being a self-starter, results and quality-oriented, and having good attention to detail, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm to learn and grow.
