RN Infection Prevention Specialist

Job Summary:
The Infection Preventionist RN will coordinate comprehensive organization-wide infection surveillance, prevention, and control program in accordance with current requirements of regulatory, government, and accrediting/licensing agencies and organizational policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surveillance for health care-associated infections (HAIs); collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of surveillance data;
- Outbreak investigation and program evaluation;
- Day-to-day administration and development of the infection surveillance, prevention, and control program;
- Communication with multidisciplinary team to facilitate role within clinical practice, facility readiness for emergencies and construction;
- Assisting the Director of Quality and Risk with assignment of risk events and patient advocate duties.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with relevant state, federal and accrediting agency requirements;
- Knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, sepsis, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, epidemiology, statistics, communication and program administration;
- Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented;
- Able to collect, analyze and report data;
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ability to obtain, enter and manage data using a computer;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Able to facilitate performance improvement initiatives;
- Able to organize and manage time and multiple tasks;
- Participates in ongoing personal education and professional development;
- Is an active member of relevant professional organizations;
- Adheres to the principles and to the mission of the organization;
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively through talking and listening.
Education, Licensure and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program;
- BLS certification;
- Current Georgia RN License or RN Compact/multi state license including GA;
- BSN or Master's Degree in Nursing preferred;
- CIC certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology. Ability to take certification examination in two or less years of employment required.
