Job Summary and Qualifications

The Staff Nuclear Medicine Technologist's primary responsibilities include producing diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures as ordered and assisting physicians or radiologists in delivering high-quality patient care.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist model's adherence to the Hospital's applicable policies, protocols, practices, and expectations includes:

  • Nuclear Medicine imaging and computer manipulation and processing
  • Camera quality control and radiation safety
  • Radioisotope administration and documentation
  • Image processing and labeling
  • Scheduling of procedures
  • Use of office computers, filing system, phone, and paging systems
  • Transporting of patients

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A satisfactorily completed two-year training program in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent North Carolina state license
  • Certification through the ARRT
  • New hires or transfers to a different modality must achieve certification within six months of that assignment
  • Current CPR certification
  • Venipuncture certification
  • Current with continuing education requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills that reflect a positive attitude and a sense of teamwork
