Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Psychological Services Associate to join our team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) in Somerset. As a key member of our psychology department, you will play a vital role in providing targeted psychological services to meet the mental health and emotional adjustment needs of the inmate population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling and limited therapy to individual inmates or groups, employing psychological techniques to manage and modify inmate behavior.
  • Conduct interviews and evaluations to determine initial treatment plans, and assist with administering, scoring, and interpreting standard psychological tests and instruments.
  • Refer inmates to specialized psychologists or higher-level specialists for more detailed assessment or therapeutic intervention, and coordinate with other institutional departments, agencies, and state mental health facilities to ensure effective delivery of services.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in psychology or a closely related field, with fifteen graduate level credits in psychology, counseling, educational counseling, rehabilitation, human development, learning, or motivation.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA, and meeting the PA residency requirement.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, and passing a background investigation.
