DIRECTOR OF STUDENT RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
We are in search of an experienced and dedicated Director of Student Residential Services to oversee and manage a dynamic residential environment for international middle and high school students. This role involves providing daily support to students residing in our dormitory while they attend various private educational institutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Student Residential Services is responsible for creating, implementing, and supervising programs and policies that foster a strong community within the dormitory, enhance student engagement, and ensure academic success, safety, and overall well-being. This includes:
- Building and maintaining relationships with residents through regular interactions.
- Assisting students in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Leading the residential conduct process.
- Providing guidance and oversight to the Residential Staff, including Residential Life Coordinators, Resident Assistants, and other support teams.
- Conducting performance evaluations and participating in the recruitment process for staff members.
Management of Residential Life Staff
- Supervising the Residential Life Coordinators and Resident Assistants in their daily duties, including managing student arrivals and departures.
- Facilitating weekly staff meetings and coordinating training sessions.
- Organizing Student Welcome and Orientation events and ensuring compliance with dormitory policies.
- Providing counseling to students facing challenges in adjusting to dormitory life and U.S. culture.
- Creating a monthly on-call schedule for staff to ensure continuous support.
- Planning and executing a diverse range of events for residents.
Facility and Kitchen Oversight
- Managing the Facilities Maintenance Team to ensure the dormitory is clean and well-maintained.
- Collaborating with management on maintenance projects and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Overseeing the Kitchen Staff in meal planning and preparation, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Transportation Management
- Supervising the Transportation Team to guarantee safe and efficient student transport.
- Managing the transportation budget and ensuring effective use of vehicles.
- Ensuring all drivers adhere to safety regulations and conduct regular vehicle inspections.
The Director of Student Residential Services is a full-time position requiring a dedicated professional who can provide leadership and support to the Residential Life and Dormitory Operations team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should possess a Master's Degree in education administration, student affairs, or a related field, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in student affairs and residential life. A minimum of 5 years in a management role and 2 years of live-in experience at a director level is required. Experience working with international students, particularly from China, is preferred.
Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in Mandarin is advantageous. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, excellent decision-making skills, and a commitment to the welfare of international students.
Applicants must be detail-oriented, possess strong time management skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are crucial for this role.
