Job Overview:

In the role of Accountant, you will operate under the guidance of the Finance Manager, providing essential financial services and support to various operational and research activities. This position requires a high degree of discretion and independent judgment, aimed at enhancing customer service and financial management.

Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough financial analyses, offering strategic guidance, and ensuring effective budget management for clinical research initiatives. You will also be responsible for creating and updating financial plans, as well as preparing detailed reports and analyses to meet departmental needs.

Collaboration with diverse stakeholders within the finance organization and the broader community is key, as you will be expected to translate complex financial data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making and risk mitigation.


Key Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Reporting:
You will analyze financial data and generate timely reports that contribute to the effective management of operations. Your role will involve applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

Process Improvement:
Recommend enhancements to existing practices and systems, working closely with both internal and external partners to achieve departmental goals. Your ability to foster strong relationships and communicate effectively will be crucial in this capacity.

Accounting and Reconciliation:
Accurately document transactions across various financial records, performing reconciliations and resolving discrepancies independently. You will ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards while maintaining clear communication with leadership.

Strategic Financial Management:
Align financial objectives with departmental priorities, reporting on issues and risks while making informed recommendations. You will engage with relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and approvals.

Compliance and Risk Oversight:

Establish and maintain robust internal controls to ensure the effective use of resources, accurate financial reporting, and adherence to contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.


Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics, coupled with two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A solid understanding of financial and accounting principles is essential.


Skills and Competencies:
A keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to confidentiality are critical. You should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is necessary, along with familiarity with financial management software.
