Law Enforcement Cadet Opportunity

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our Law Enforcement Cadet Program. As a Cadet, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in law enforcement and develop valuable skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Requirements
  • High School Senior, High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum Age: 18 years old
  • Maximum Age: 21 years old

The Cadet Program is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. As a Cadet, you will receive training in specific areas of law enforcement and have the opportunity to work with experienced law enforcement professionals. While it is not a requirement, we encourage Cadets to pursue a college education in the criminal justice field.

Selection Process

Applicants must pass a thorough background check, which includes a full criminal history check, driver's history check, credit reporting check, fingerprinting, CDS test, and meeting with all references. The background check is designed to ensure that only the most qualified and trustworthy individuals are selected for the program.

Program Details

The Cadet Program is a part-time position that requires Cadets to work some evenings and weekends as needed. The program is designed to last until the Cadet reaches the age of 21, at which point they may be eligible to enter a bonafide law enforcement academy in Maryland. The program is a contractual position, and Cadets are expected to adhere to the terms and conditions of the contract.

How to Apply

Interested individuals should submit either the employment application (PDF) or the online employment application form. Please note that the Sheriffs Office reserves the right to refuse any request to participate in this program.
