Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer Lateral to join our team at the City of Annapolis. As a Police Officer Lateral, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to law enforcement, including patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls for service, and enforcing laws and ordinances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and ordinances.
  • Respond to calls for service, including emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Investigate crimes and gather evidence to support investigations.
  • Make arrests and transport prisoners to jail or court.
  • Provide emergency first aid and respond to emergency situations.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives to build relationships with the community and prevent crime.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and polygraph test.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions

The work is performed in a physically demanding environment that requires the employee to make life and death decisions for themselves and others. The employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
