Key Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Create and execute tailored education plans (IEPs) that cater to the individual needs of each student.
  • Provide direct therapeutic interventions for students experiencing speech and language challenges.
  • Work in partnership with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to monitor student progress and welfare.
  • Keep comprehensive records of student assessments, progress reports, and therapy sessions.
  • Engage in IEP meetings, parent-teacher discussions, and continuous professional development.
  • Offer support and training to school personnel and parents on effective strategies for fostering speech and language growth.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Valid state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certification from the Department of Education as an Educational Specialist in Speech and Language Pathology.
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Licensure and Certifications Required
  • State Speech-Language Pathologist License
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
  • Department of Education Certification as an Educational Specialist in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Successful completion of relevant Praxis exams (if mandated by the state)
Physical Requirements
  • Capability to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, sitting, and standing for prolonged periods.
  • Adequate physical stamina to work with young children and students with special needs.
