Job Title: Corrections Deputy

Williams County, ND is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Corrections Deputy to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Corrections Deputy is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of inmates and staff at the Williams County Correctional Center. This role requires a strong commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the well-being of those in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the safety and security of staff, inmates, and the correctional facility
  • Monitor inmate behavior and promote acceptable attitudes and conduct
  • Supervise inmate activities and maintain discipline
  • Perform inspections of jail areas to ensure they are safe, secure, and free of contraband
  • Monitor inmates for rule violations and behavioral changes
  • Operate building controls and monitor deputy locations
  • Communicate effectively with staff and inmates via intercom
  • Account for inmates under direct supervision at all times
  • Provide care for inmates, including administering medications and scheduling appointments
  • Conduct booking and release of inmates, as well as perform searches and collect property
  • Interview and classify new inmates, and re-classify and re-arrange housing as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of satisfactory work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid North Dakota driver's license or equivalent
  • Pass a thorough background investigation and pre-employment drug screening
  • Complete the Corrections Officer basic course within one year of hire
