GEI Consultants is expanding its Water Resources division and is looking for a skilled Hydrology Project Engineer to join our team. The selected candidate will collaborate with a network of professionals in hydrology and hydraulics across various locations. This role involves engaging in the planning and execution of water resource initiatives in diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical projects and tasks in partnership with project leaders and support teams. Projects may encompass river restoration, flood management, stormwater planning, and dam rehabilitation.
  • Draft comprehensive reports and technical documents, effectively communicating findings to colleagues and clients.
  • Create design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and project timelines.
  • Conduct site visits and travel to other offices as necessary.
  • Demonstrate self-direction. The ideal candidate will possess the initiative to independently research and resolve various project-related challenges.
  • Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater best management practices, and river restoration is preferred. Field engineering experience with an emphasis on stormwater management is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in computer modeling software is essential. Familiarity with tools such as USEPA SWMM and HEC-RAS is preferred, although experience with similar programs may suffice.
  • Knowledge of GIS applications is required, including the ability to perform spatial analyses and manage topographic data.
  • Experience with CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and Civil 3D, is necessary for surface analysis and modeling support.
  • Understanding of Michigan's regulatory and permitting frameworks is beneficial.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Michigan.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and meet project deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for both independent and team-based work.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project assignments.
