Key Responsibilities- Design and Analysis: Lead the structural design and analysis of grain handling facilities, including silos, support structures, and material handling equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Project Management: Develop detailed structural engineering plans, specifications, and calculations for grain elevator projects, and collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other team members to integrate structural designs with project requirements.
- Site Visits and Inspections: Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing structures and mechanical systems, providing recommendations for maintenance, repair, or renovation.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to address technical issues and ensure project success, and stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and construction techniques to enhance design practices constantly.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, with a focus on grain elevator design, construction, or bulk material handling.
- Licenses and Certifications: Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
- Skills: Excellent leadership and project management skills, ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders, detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit considered a plus.
- Physical Demands: Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend, and ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces frequently.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to moderate to loud noise in the work environment, heavy concentrations of grain dust, and ability to work outdoors in various climates, weather conditions, and inclement weather, roughly 80% of the time.
