Job Summary

The Ready Mix Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a ready mix truck used for the delivery of ready-mix concrete and other associated products to construction sites. This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies, and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery of Ready-Mix Concrete: Fill water tank, check slump of load, and clean excess material from truck.
  • Safely drive loaded truck to destination on delivery ticket and/or instructions from dispatch.
  • Ensure all delivery tickets are signed and returned to the plant.
  • Inspect job sites, work with customers to obtain adequate vehicle access, and unload material.
  • Communicate truck status with Dispatch by use of two-way radio and encoders.
  • Rinse chutes and rear of truck free of spilled concrete (re-hang extension chutes as necessary).
  • Return to same yard or other yard as instructed by dispatch and receive new instructions.
  • Maintain good customer relations, act in a professional, courteous manner, and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Assist in training of co-workers as needed.
Vehicle Maintenance
  • Perform pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and report vehicle condition at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Check all vehicle fluid levels daily and add fluids as necessary.
  • Fuel vehicle as necessary.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness throughout the day.
  • Occasionally use a chipping hammer to remove excess concrete buildup.
  • Perform minor repairs and assist mechanics in vehicle repairs.
  • Change flat tires with spares and assist tire mechanic as needed.
Safety
  • Comply with safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Report all unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Offer suggestions for accident prevention.
  • Serve on Safety Committees as requested.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with valid medical card.
  • Meet minimum MVR requirements.
  • Ability to provide high standards of customer service.
  • Ability to clean all areas on the vehicle, climb ladder to inspect loads, and hang extension chutes.
  • Satisfactory work attendance record.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.
Work Schedule
  • Adhere to DOT regulations restricting no more than 70 hours in 7 days.
  • Breaks available as production allows.
