Housing Support Specialist Position with Mental Health Association
The Mental Health Association (MHA) is seeking a dedicated Housing Support Specialist to contribute to our mission of assisting individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:
- Service Planning:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify participants' strengths and needs
- Assisting clients in formulating and executing personalized action plans
- Providing continuous support to help clients achieve their objectives
- Housing Stability:
- Guiding clients in maintaining their housing in accordance with lease terms
- Negotiating with landlords for necessary repairs and maintenance
- Conducting regular inspections of housing units
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with landlords
- Financial Empowerment:
- Assisting clients in securing reliable income sources
- Advising clients on accessing available benefits and resources
- Health and Wellbeing:
- Coordinating medical and counseling appointments for clients
- Supporting clients in attending their appointments
- Providing transportation assistance as needed
- Connecting clients with community services for additional support
- Development and Additional Duties:
- Participating in meetings, supervision, and training sessions
- Completing necessary documentation
- Reporting incidents in a timely manner
- Performing other related tasks as required
Qualifications:
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Flexibility to adapt to changing participant needs
- Interpersonal skills and a compassionate demeanor
- Minimum age of eighteen years
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience working with individuals facing homelessness or mental health challenges
- Background in assisting individuals with housing needs
- Proficiency in a second language is advantageous
- Empathetic and understanding nature
