Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bakery Department Supervisor to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, ensuring high-quality products, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to bakery team members to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Work closely with the bakery trainer to develop and implement training programs that promote a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
  • Assist in the training of new team members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated bakery department, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Open and close the department according to established procedures, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Ensure all team members receive necessary breaks and communicate concerns to the team leader and associate team leader.
  • Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution, fostering a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations, consistently communicating and modeling WFM vision and goals.
Requirements
  • 12+ months retail experience, preferably in a bakery or food service environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of bakery team procedures and policies, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills, with the ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Thorough product knowledge, advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures, and proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, and work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, and use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
