Objective TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH CENTER INC. is in search of a research engineer dedicated to the crashworthiness division, which is centered on innovating and refining testing methodologies for assessing automotive safety. Crashworthiness studies involve the advancement of vehicle designs, safety measures, and tools aimed at improving occupant protection. This division emphasizes the dynamics and mechanics of vehicles, their occupants, and other road users, focusing on safety during collision scenarios. The selected research engineer will manage projects that may include creating testing protocols to assess injury risks in accidents involving passenger cars, motorcycles, or other at-risk road users; conducting research on the evaluation of crash test dummies and their components; and establishing testing procedures concerning vehicle structural integrity and restraint systems for frontal, rear, side, and rollover incidents, including child restraint systems.
Key Responsibilities*Develop, assess, and implement analytical techniques, as well as component and/or full-scale vehicle testing to evaluate occupant biomechanics and safetyApplication of mechanics and dynamics principles to comprehend human injury and occupant protection, including SAE J211Development of innovative testing methods for automotive safety for occupants and other road users, alongside protective gear such as helmetsEngage in thorough evaluations of current experimental testing protocolsProvide technical guidance and/or direct involvement in test development, setup, execution, data collection, troubleshooting, analysis, and reporting.
