Role Summary

As a Mammography Technologist at Optum, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients. This position requires a strong foundation in radiologic technology, with a focus on mammography and breast imaging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Position patients on examining tables and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified areas of the body.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Examine radiologic images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  • Process radiographic images and send them to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to strict confidentiality protocols.
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved (2-year) school and meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current Oregon license in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current healthcare level CPR/BLS certification.
  • At least 1 year of mammography experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Epic and PACS experience.
