Emergency Medicine Physician

This position is located at one of the various Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics under the Navajo Area Office.
The primary purpose is to provide technical expertise in emergency medical care and specialized trauma in outpatient and emergency room settings in hospitals operating on a 24-7 days per week schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Provides emergency care on a regular and ongoing basis to patients seen in the emergency room
- Provides emergency medicine expertise and consultation in emergency medicine to providers at the facility/ies
- Serves as a committee member of the ER Committee, the Medical Staff Committee, the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and on other committees
- Participates in the performance improvement program on a continuous basis and performs other duties as assigned
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting
- For Grades GS-12 and Above GS-14: 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training within the specialty area of Emergency Medicine
The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements.
This is a designated position covered by Public Law, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Confidential Financial Disclosure Form required.
Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.
COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.
Additional selections may be made for similar positions across the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) within the local commuting area(s) of the location identified in this announcement.
