The Indiana University Health is actively seeking a Pediatric Psychologist to join the esteemed Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition division. This role is designed for a faculty member dedicated to enhancing the psychological well-being of children and adolescents facing gastrointestinal challenges.
The Riley Pediatric GI service specializes in providing comprehensive care for young patients with a variety of gastrointestinal disorders, addressing their complex psychological and psychiatric needs. It is well-established that effective treatment for pediatric GI issues—such as Functional Abdominal Pain, Encopresis, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Rumination Syndrome, disordered eating, Transplant care, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease, and Celiac Disease—requires the integration of psychological and behavioral interventions alongside medical treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a healthy work-life balance with a standard weekly schedule and no on-call duties.
- Conduct psychological assessments, diagnoses, and therapeutic interventions for children in pediatric gastroenterology clinics affiliated with a major academic medical institution.
- Engage in research initiatives, collaborating with established pediatric gastroenterology researchers at Indiana University Health.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary medical teams, participate in committees, and provide supervision and education to residents, fellows, interns, and students.
- Focus on pediatric GI, enhancing patients' coping mechanisms related to their medical conditions, adherence to treatment plans, addressing co-occurring mental health issues, and improving overall functioning.
- Explore subspecialty interests and contribute to program development, including partnerships with multidisciplinary obesity medicine and weight management initiatives.
- Hold a faculty position at Indiana University Health, with an expectation to contribute to the training of interns and medical students.
- Enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, life, and disability insurance, a 401k plan with company matching, paid time off, relocation assistance, and occurrence-based malpractice insurance from the first day of employment.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Doctoral Clinical Psychology program (Psy.D. or Ph.D.).
- HSPP certification or eligibility in the state of Indiana.
- New graduates and seasoned professionals are encouraged to consider this opportunity.
The Department of Psychiatry is committed to a robust research, clinical, and educational mission, housing both a clinical psychology internship and a psychiatry residency program, along with training rotations for medical and graduate students. The department and the university prioritize fostering a diverse learning environment and supporting the professional growth of individuals from underrepresented groups.
