Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Development Assistant to join our team at St. Joseph Children's Home. As a key member of our Child Development Center, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for young children to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Daily Routines

Assist the Senior Classroom Teacher with implementing daily routines and activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children in a group care setting.

Support Classroom Activities

Assist with the implementation of individual and group activities for the classroom that are developmentally appropriate, play-based, and consistent with a Reggio-inspired approach to learning.

Provide Positive Guidance

Provide positive guidance, direction, and encouragement for each child using principles of Positive Discipline.

Maintain a Safe Environment

Assist the Senior Classroom Teacher with maintaining a classroom environment that promotes age-appropriate physical and emotional comfort and educational development of all children in care.

Communicate with Parents

Communicate with parents by approved means, as instructed by the Senior Classroom Teacher, Director, and/or Assistant Director.

Participate in Staff Development

Obtain all required staff development and training, and participate in staff meetings and contribute to the decision-making process.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. Experience working with children ages 0-5 preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

Lifting Requirement: 50 pounds. Standing for up to eight (8) hours. Reaching above the shoulder level. Walking. Squatting. Twisting. Bending. Carrying/pushing/pulling.
