Position Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Technician will execute a variety of laboratory procedures in designated areas as per licensure and certification. This role primarily involves analytical testing of blood and other human biological samples.

Conducting analytical laboratory testing necessitates a significant level of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in the relevant licensed areas.

Responsibilities may include various pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks, with the possibility of additional hours as required. Adherence to laboratory policies and quality control practices is essential. The technician will also engage in exceptional customer service, fostering respectful relationships with all stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

- Execute assigned pre-analytical tasks related to laboratory testing, which may encompass equipment maintenance, inventory management, specimen collection, and cleaning of laboratory spaces.

- Conduct all necessary tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately, in accordance with established protocols and performance standards.

- Participate in proficiency testing, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as institutional policies.

- Perform post-analytical tasks, including reporting results in line with established procedures.

- Provide technical support and information regarding laboratory testing for patients across all age groups.

- Assist in the orientation and training of new employees and medical technology students under the guidance of lab leadership.

- Offer guidance to technicians and support staff, addressing customer service issues within established guidelines.

- Follow safety protocols, including the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to infection control policies.

- Engage in laboratory performance improvement initiatives and assist with data collection for special projects.


Required Knowledge and Skills

- Proficient technical skills related to laboratory testing and procedures.

- Ability to work independently while managing varying priorities and directing workflow with minimal supervision.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, staff, and partners.

- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.


Education and Experience

- An Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or a related field, is required.

- A Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related field is preferred.

- Previous clinical laboratory experience is advantageous, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.


Licensure and Certification

- Candidates must possess national certification as a Medical Lab Technician, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Technologist.
