Job Summary

As a Network Infrastructure Specialist at NexTier Bank, you will be responsible for maintaining the operational infrastructure and routing of our LAN, WAN, and telephone systems. This includes system upgrades, documentation, daily administration, and problem resolution. You will also assist staff and users in resolving hardware, software, and communication issues. Additionally, you will participate in the design, planning, and execution of infrastructure to support new applications, technologies, and business continuity planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Configure and maintain networking equipment such as routers, switches, VLANs, NATs, etc.
Ensure all LANs are properly maintained and updated as required.
Setup, configure, backup, and maintain the bank's IP phone system.
Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS).
Respond to user inquiries and provide assistance with network access and software programs.
Establish and document procedures for network installation, backup, and maintenance.
Ensure network users, user environments, and directories are properly maintained. May serve as backup for network security.
Develop and implement data backup and system disaster recovery plans for all financial institution data networking systems.
Stay current with industry advances and changes in user, system software, and system hardware requirements.
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
Monitor system performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
Participate in an on-call rotation, including evening and weekend support.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

Attend seminars and meetings as appropriate.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Code of Ethics.
Adhere to established security procedures.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Communication - Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
Computer Skills - Proficient computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, and advanced features of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Banking - Knowledge of financial industry and bank dynamics, and a thorough knowledge of bank's products and services, and bank security and transaction policies.
Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision making.
Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Monitoring - Monitoring/assessing your performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
Law and Government - Knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
Bank Secrecy Act - In the performance of all respective tasks and duties, employee will maintain knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act regulations and all other regulatory, security, and bank policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in information systems or equivalent combination of computer courses and business experience.
Preferred Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or extensive experience with Cisco networking.
Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
Understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
Experience working with enterprise VoIP phone systems.
Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools.
One to Three years of experience working with PCs and networks.
Or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
